Summer Slide Summer 2 Summer Sun

As summer vacation begins, we would like to remind parents that the single best way to keep your child sharp with their reading skills this summer, is daily reading. Research has proven a “Summer Slide”, or drop in students’ reading achievement, occurs when children do not read during the summer months. Like any other skill, reading requires practice, practice, practice. Students who use summer hours to read books that interest them and are on their Lexile level have tremendous benefits when returning to school in the fall. Let's make sure our students have a good book this summer when they're not in the classroom!
