Crooked River Elementary School is located in St. Marys, Georgia. The school was built during 1985-86, and opened its doors to students August 29, 1986. It was named for its proximity to Crooked River, which is a tidal river on the southeast Georgia coast. The school is also adjacent to Kings Bay Naval Base. Our school mascot is the Dolphin.
We are a Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade school with an average enrollment of 585 students. Our faculty is composed of approximately 38 certified professionals, 12 paraprofessionals, 3 clerical employees, and 1 registered nurse. Our staff is committed to providing a quality, innovative, and student-centered educational program.
We are recognized as a 2002 Georgia School of Excellence. This is an achievement that was awarded after reviewing the previous five years of academics, extracurricular programs, as well as community involvement. We have also been named a Distinguished Title I School for meeting AYP for five consecutive years.
