Mrs. Gano’s second grade class recently completed a STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) project called "Save Fred". In this cooperative activity the students worked in pairs to save a helpless gummy worm named Fred who managed to capsize his boat and lose his life preserver. They had only 4 paper clips and could not use their hands to touch Fred, the boat, or his life preserver. The children loved using critical thinking skills to save Fred!
