READMarathon is coming to Camden County Elementary Schools!!! And The River is ready to RUN! (READ!)
The goal of the READMarathon is for students (READRunners) to build their reading stamina while introducing them to reading persistence and the JOY of reading over the course of 26.2 days!
Each student can keep track of their reading minutes daily on the reading log that was sent home and turn the log in to their teacher at the end of the week. Your child’s teacher has extra reading logs if you need!
ANY reading material counts! Students can read at school, at home or on the go, and can read as much or as little as they want on any day of the week! Weekends are sometimes the best time to get extra minutes!
Starting Line: Monday, October 7th. Read, Set, READ!!!!
Champions: The top three schools in Camden County will receive a personal visit from Malcolm Mitchell himself!! We love reading at The River and we sure would like to win this prize, so let’s get reading, reading, reading! And don’t forget to turn in those reading logs!
Finish Line for Camden County Schools: Thursday, October 24th will be the last day for students to record & report minutes for the Malcolm Mitchell visit. All reading logs should be turned in THIS DAY to your child’s teacher. It’s a little shorter than the full marathon, but to coordinate Malcolm’s visit we needed this to be the last day for CCS minutes calculations.
End of the official Malcolm Mitchell Marathon: November 1st. After the visit from Malcolm, don’t quit reading! We will continue reading and recording minutes until the official last day of the READMarathon, November 1st. Finish strong and turn in your final reading log of minutes on Friday, November 1st.
