Third Graders

At The River, our amazing third graders have been diving into the fascinating world of rocks and minerals! They’ve been having a blast discovering the physical properties that make each rock unique.

During their recent lab activity, students rolled up their sleeves and got hands-on with some exciting experiments. They examined various rocks and minerals, paying close attention to key characteristics like texture, luster, color, and hardness. One of the most thrilling parts

of the lab was testing the hardness of the rocks and minerals. Armed with a nail, a paper clip, and even their own fingernails, the students scratched the surfaces to see which rocks would give in and which ones were tougher than they seemed. Keep up the fantastic work, third graders! Science really does ROCK!
