🗺️ Mapping Out Success at CRES! 🧭
Our first graders have been busy navigating new skills! After reading the story "On the Map" and discussing key text features and what makes up a neighborhood, students took on the role of cartographers to create their very own neighborhood maps. 🏠🌳
They practiced key social studies and reading skills by:
Labeling key landmarks: Marking homes, parks, roads, and favorite community spots.
Adding cardinal directions: Including a compass rose (North, South, East, West) to help guide the way.
Building communication skills: Presenting their colorful creations and sharing unique neighborhood details with their classmates.

Our bright little Kindergarten dolphins at CRES had an absolute blast today using everyone's favorite snack—POPCORN—to explore their five senses! 🐬✨
Here is how our tiny scientists put their senses to work:
👂 Hearing: Listening to the loud pop-pop-pop from the popper!
👀 Sight: Watching the kernels transform into fluffy, white snacks.
👃 Smell: Sniffing that amazing, buttery aroma filling the room.
✋ Touch: Feeling the bumpy, warm, and crunchy texture.
👅 Taste: The absolute best part—munching on a delicious treat!

From walking in a straight line to sitting nicely in the cafeteria and working together in small groups, these little learners are already doing an amazing job. Making friends has been a breeze, and playground time is definitely a fan favorite! 🛝✨
To wrap up our All About Me unit, the students got hands-on (and had a lot of laughs!) taking turns labeling Mrs. McClellan's body parts. 🏷️ human anatomy has never been so fun! We are so proud of how well they are adjusting and can't wait for a wonderful year ahead! 💙📚
