School safety remains our highest priority. Families, we need your partnership in reminding and educating your children about the seriousness of making threats. What may seem like an innocent prank, or simply something said out of anger or frustration, can carry very serious consequences. Every threat, whether real or fake, demands an immediate law enforcement response, disrupts learning, and can result in life-changing legal prosecution.
We take EVERY threat seriously and will continue working closely with the St. Marys Police Department, Kingsland Police Department, and the Camden County Sheriff’s Office to ensure swift and decisive responses to all threats.
The safety of our students and staff will always be our top priority. If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Protecting with Purpose,
Chief Kizzi Knight

Dear Camden Families,
As we kick off the new school year, please note that our transportation schedule may need some adjustments during the first week of school.
What to expect:
• Buses may experience delays as routes are optimized
• Phone lines are experiencing high volume - thank you for your patience
• Route changes will be addressed once all student schedules are finalized
• Additional route adjustments may be needed to address overcrowding
• Schools may hold students inside during unsafe weather conditions
We appreciate your understanding as our transportation team works diligently to ensure the safe and efficient transport of all students to and from school.
Your patience during this transition period helps us provide the best service for our school community!

We had a wonderful and successful Open House!
Thank you for coming.
We know you are excited for the first day of school.
In an effort to establish routines and ensure safety we need your help.
On the first day you are welcome to escort your child to their classroom.
After the first day, our typical drop off procedure is as follows:
• Car rider drop off is behind the school. Please pull all the way forward to avoid congestion in the line.
• Biker/walker students will come through the base gate. The gate is locked promptly at 8:30.
• Children cannot be dropped off in the front of the school building without an adult. If you are coming inside you will enter through the front office.
We look forward to a successful first day and year together!
Thank you,
The River Admin Team

If you are driving, remember these simple rules:
– 𝐘𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐛𝐮𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 — don’t speed up — because the bus is preparing to stop. There are - likely students waiting to get on the bus or parents waiting nearby to pick up children.
– 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 — and wait at least 20 feet behind the bus — because children are getting on or off the school bus. Stay stopped until the red lights stop flashing, the extended stop-arm is withdrawn, and the bus begins moving.
– 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧’𝐭 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧, particularly in the morning or mid-afternoon, around school arrival and dismissal times. Be alert as you back out of a driveway, or drive through a neighborhood, school zone or bus stop.
𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 - 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐛𝐮𝐬 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧:
Your child should arrive at the bus stop at least 10 minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive. Teach them to play it SAFE:
– 𝐒tay five steps away from the curb.
– 𝐀lways wait until the bus comes to a complete stop and the bus driver signals for you to board.
– 𝐅ace forward after finding a seat on the bus.
– 𝐄xit the bus after it stops and look left-right-left for cars before crossing a street.

On Monday, August 4th, we will have various events to welcome our families. Due to limited parking, please park across the street at Heaven’s Point International, located at 3451 Charlie Smith Sr Hwy, St Marys, GA 31558. We will have someone directing traffic to ensure safety when crossing the road.
Pre-K Families:
If you are a registered Pre-K family, you would have been notified by our Pre-K teacher to come to Pre-K camp. Last names A-M please come at 9 AM and N-Z at 10 AM. Sign-in will be at our bus port entryway. A sign will be in front of the building.
Kinder Families:
If your child is in kindergarten, you’re invited to Kinder Camp! This event will also have two sessions. Sign-in will be at our bus port entry (a sign will be available at the entrance of our school to help you know where to go). Sessions will be at 9 AM for last names beginning A-M and N-Z at 10 AM. Please be sure to bring any missing documents with you to complete registration.
Kindergarten-5th Families:

Attached is also a flyer you will receive as you walk in that evening, with various school and system-wide information to support you as you learn about our school.
We are thrilled to have you as part of the River Family.
Looking forward to a successful year together!

Principal

If you are not seeing a bus route for your child in the My Ride K-12 app, please log in to Infinite Campus to verify that the Transportation question was completed during your child’s registration.
We’ve found that many parents unintentionally skipped this step, which prevents the bus route from being assigned and displayed in the app.
Once you have confirmed that the Transportation question has been completed, please allow 24 hours during the work week before checking the My Ride K-12 app. If your child’s bus route still isn’t showing after that time, please contact the Transportation Department at (912) 729-8374 for assistance.
Thank you for helping us ensure a smooth start to the school year!
