Dear Families, Get readyโ€”the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to connect with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again. Studies show that kids read more when they choose books for themselves. Hereโ€™s everything you need to know about the Book Fair: Dates: October 28 โ€“ November 1st (Mon.-Thurs. 8:00-3:00; Friday 8:00-12:00) Location: Crooked River Elementary School Media Center Thereโ€™s even more info on our schoolโ€™s Book Fair homepage: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/crookedriverelemschool2 While youโ€™re there, set up a Book Fair eWallet, the digital payment account that allows your child to shop for books at the Fair without cash. Then share your eWallet link so friends and extended family can add funds. When you fund an eWallet, youโ€™ll have the opportunity to contribute to a giving initiative called Share the Fairโ„ข. Your contributions directly support our students who need help buying books from the Fair. Many of us still remember the rush of finding the perfect book at a Scholastic Book Fair. I hope youโ€™ll join your child at our schoolโ€™s Fair and share a reading experience theyโ€™ll remember forever. Happy reading! PS: Need one more reason to visit the Book Fair? Every purchase at the Fair benefits our school!

Many families lost power for significant amounts of time during Hurricane Helene. This caused major food loss for those families. The River wants to provide support to those families in need that may experience hardship in replenishing their groceries. The River asks for your help to โ€œFill the Fridgeโ€. If you would like to participate, you may purchase gift cards from either Publix or Winn-Dixie in $10 increments. This will allow easy distribution to those who are in need. You may send the gift cards in your childโ€™s take home folders and/or drop them off in the โ€œFill the Fridgeโ€ box that will be walked around during car rider drop off. We are accepting gift card donations until October 8th. We thank you for your support and look forward to helping those who need it most.

School Closures in Response to Hurricane Helene Due to the potential for high winds, heavy rainfall and flooding associated with Hurricane Helene over the next two days, and with guidance from the National Weather Service and Camden Emergency Management Agency, Camden County Schools will close all schools Thursday, September 26, 2024, and Friday, September 27, 2024, for all staff and students. The safety of our students, employees, and their families will always be our first priority. In any emergency, it is critical for parents and students to rely on accurate, timely information directly from the school system or local and state officials. All official announcements regarding schools will be made on the Camden County Schools website, Facebook and Instagram pages, through the Camden County Schools app, on local radio stations โ€“ KBAY 106.3 and WECC 89.3, and on the Tribune and Georgian website. Please check one or more of these sources for updates regarding future decisions. We wish everyone the best as you prepare for the storm and make plans to ensure the safety of your families. Thank you for your patience during this time.

Good morning Rockstar Families, We are rescheduling our Family Meeting Night to next week. It will be Thursday, October 3rd. We are excited to have you in our school and to have great discussions about academics, attendance and behavior. This will be easier for you to plan and commit to without the added worry about what is going to happen with the storm that may impact us to some degree. I have not received any information about schools closing due to the impact of the storm at this time. We just want to move to a night that does not have the added stress of bad weather. Thanks for your understanding and we are excited to see you next week!

Attention Camden Families: There is an increased presence of law enforcement at our schools as a precautionary measure. If you notice more officers on campus, please know that this does not necessarily indicate a problem. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff. Rest assured, we will always communicate promptly if there is ever a threat to our school community. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

๐Ÿ“šโœจ Problem Solving in Camden County Schools: A Step-by-Step Guide! ๐ŸŒŸ At Camden County Schools, we believe in addressing issues promptly and effectively. Here's the process to ensure your concerns are heard and resolved: ๐Ÿ”น Step 1: Teacher/Staff Member Closest to the Situation Start by discussing the issue with the teacher or staff member who is directly involved. They are often the best equipped to provide immediate solutions or clarifications. ๐Ÿ”น Step 2: School Administrator/Division Supervisor If the problem isn't resolved, the next step is to contact the school administrator or division supervisor. They can offer additional support and resources to help address the concern. ๐Ÿ”น Step 3: Central Office Administrator Should the issue persist, reach out to a central office administrator. They have a broader perspective and can coordinate with various departments to find a resolution. ๐Ÿ”น Step 4: Superintendent For more complex issues, the Superintendent is available to provide higher-level intervention and ensure that all policies and procedures are being followed. ๐Ÿ”น Step 5: Board of Education As a last resort, you can bring the concern to the Board of Education. They oversee the entire school district and can make decisions on policy changes or other significant actions. We are committed to creating a positive and supportive environment for our students, staff, and community. Your voice matters, and we're here to help every step of the way! ๐Ÿ’ฌ๐Ÿค #BElieveinCAMDEN #WeAreCamden #ProblemSolving #CommunitySupport #YourVoiceMatters
